Founded for Samandra Markelz and Children Like Her
“Sylvia’s Children Soar”, will launch the cause of assisting children who have suffered devastating family loss.
Every day, there are children being left behind. These children are plunged out of a normal, safe, secure and prosperous life. Their dreams and hopes spiraling away. These children suddenly find themselves placed with distant relatives, friends, or worse some are placed in group homes or foster care.
There are those, who have been placed with aging relatives, only to loose them, as well.
It is usually a dreaded decease or an accident that leaves these children standing in the midst of a new and frightening existence, feeling total aloneness. Everything is gone! Finances, friends, homes animals and sometimes siblings, as well. Most of all, they have lost the parents or parent they needed, loved and depended upon.
They have been left behind.
The devastation and emptiness, the permanent loss, repeating itself many times over in their young minds. These young, once vibrant people have been given no choice in their sudden plight. They have been literally, hurled into total insecurity. With that, their whole being is sent into the sensation of free falling with no parachute. Their world is turned upside down. To most of us, it seems that they will be “OK”. They have food clothing,someone to watch over them and even counseling. They are not on the streets. But, there is so much we as adults, take for granted, having our own security and the where with all to do as we will, for ourselves and our family. These children have none of that and may never have it, again. It is essential that we help them soar, to the heights, their now, deceased, parents, once told them, they would.
It is imperative we help them take their place in society as, viable and productive community members.
These are not the children of a “system.”
These are the unnoticed children, only because they have not had a voice.
That is, not until, Samandra Markelz, gave them one.
For, she is one of these children.
Sam is a twelve and a half year old little girl, whose mom died last year of brain cancer.
Thanks to an Organization called “the Young Eagles” Sam, discovered flying.
She says, “it helps her soar through her clouds”.
She now is flying on a regular bases with some of her new pilot friends

“Sylvia’s Children Soar” is working to make survival and enrichment not the immediate responsibility of Sam or children like her. Through a children learn to fly program, children are taught more than just flight skills they are offered the probability of becoming strong, unique, viable, highly educated, self reliant, secure, independent beings, as any pilot would be. Something these children may not achieve without our help.
No longer, will Sam allow herself or children like her to go unnoticed.
She wants to fly, to help others and herself, but, she can only do it with our help.
